butler bruin 11 year reunion - ikea cafeteria

i got this picture from allie (red shirt) and i know that its posted on a few other blogs, but i couldn't let the chance pass for me to say that this was one reunion that was truly good.
i noticed that the whole time i was in the presence of these long lost friends...my voice was higher. and i talked like i talked in ninth grade. and i got excited about things that i got excited about in herr otto's german class. and i laughed so hard that my cheeks hurt. and i was suddenly interested in the lives of people who's names i haven't heard since yearbook signing day. the point is, for one magical afternoon i became fifteen again. and though i wouldn't change my current life for anything in the world, it was so nice to know that this teenage, carefree, loud laughing, high talking girl still exists. somewhere. even if she only makes herself present in the ikea cafeteria.

great scott!

ok, so i realize that the voting period isn't over yet, but lets be honest, we've only received 2 votes in about 2 weeks and it doesn't look like we'll ge getting more popular anytime soon. besides, whoever voted, voted for the wrong name! actually, luke used to be our #1 but lately we have been strongly leaning towards scott. and now it has been officially decided (well, as official as we can get 4months before the baby is due).

our first son's name will be.... -> scott james palmer !

we're naming him after my dad (and of course james for the middle name) but don't be alarmed if you here james calling our son with a scottish accent for the first -oh i don't know- 18 years of scott's life... i'm hoping he grows out of it by then (sigh). he kind of has a strong affinity for bagpipes which occasionaly makes him break into fits of speaking scottish. i can all too vividly imagine him ending up like the dad in 'so i married an axe murderer'. maybe our child will even look like an orange on a toothpick. who knows.

clarification

it has been brought to my attention by my loving husband james that i need to edit my november 29th posting titled, "now we're really going places". james is very nervous that because i indicated that it was in our old honda that we decided to start a family, some people might mistake that by thinking that we actually -started our family IN the car -. after many loving (and often hilarious) disputes on the matter, i have finally surrendered and am making the appropriate clarification. we did not start our family in the car. that's all i will say about that.

now we're really going places...

yes, it's true. james and i have finally purchased our first new car together. i have to say, i got a little emotional when we were selling our honda. it was in that car that we had our first date (james accidentally parked in the driveway of the house next to mine...so cute) we were in that car when i accidentally told him i loved him. long story, but true. we were in that car when we decided to get married and when we decided to start a family...
but now we get to actually drive our family around in this 2008 hyundai sonata which i must say is oh so nice.
and i'm so excited for this to be the car that we drive home our first new little baby in. and the car that drives us to the med school that james will eventually get into. so as you can see, this car has a lot of exciting things to look forward to.

mystery dinner

halloween is well over. but this classic (and sadly fuzzy) picture just had to be posted for all to see. we had a halloween party at "the white house" in which james and i (dressed as George W and Laura Bush - on the left) invited Forrest Gump (kim), Billy Idol (jeff), Paris Hilton (misty), Dolly Parton (kelly), Indiana Jones (steph), Hillary Clinton (mom), and Rocky Balboa (dad) over for a mystery dinner. it was an absolute success and a night to remember.

p.s. Donald Trump and Elaine Bennis (mike and mimi) were sadly out of town for the event. and Queen Elizabeth (grandma) fell ill.
